ToolMate
Privacy Policy
In short: ToolMate works offline. Your calculations, history and saved data stay on your device, there is no account to create, and nothing you type is uploaded to us. The app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob, which is the only third party that receives any information about your device.
Who we are
ToolMate is published by Efox, Kathmandu, Nepal. For anything in this policy, or any question about your data, write to info@efox.com.np.
This policy describes what the app does. It covers the ToolMate app only — not any website or service you might reach from it.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in ToolMate is stored in a local database on your device: your profiles, calculation history, saved calculations, favourites, recent tools, recent searches and settings.
None of it is uploaded, synchronised or backed up to any server by us. There is no account system, so there is nothing to sign in to and nothing tied to your identity.
Whatever you type into a calculator — amounts, dates, text, images — is processed on your device and is not transmitted. That includes the developer and text tools, which people commonly paste sensitive data into.
What we do not collect
- No name, email address, phone number or account.
- No contacts, calendar or location data.
- No calculation inputs or results.
- No photos. Images you pick are processed on your device and are not retained.
- No file contents, clipboard contents or scanned QR code contents.
When the app uses the internet
ToolMate is offline-first. Every calculator, converter, timer and generator works with no connection at all. The internet is used in only these places:
Advertising
The app displays ads supplied by Google AdMob. Serving and measuring those ads involves Google receiving information from your device — see the section below.
Exchange rates
If a rate provider is configured in the installed build, the currency converter may fetch current exchange rates. That request contains no personal data and no information about what you are converting. The last successful rates are cached so the converter keeps working offline.
Analytics
ToolMate ships with analytics disabled. The published build uses a no-op provider, which sends nothing anywhere. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and such analytics would record anonymous usage events only — never the contents of a calculation.
Advertising and the advertising ID
Ads are served by Google AdMob. To select and measure ads, Google may collect and process:
- your device's advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID, or IDFA on iOS);
- device and app information, such as device model, operating system version and app version;
- coarse location derived from your IP address;
- ad interaction data, such as whether an ad was shown, viewed or tapped.
We do not receive this data ourselves, and we never send Google anything you type into the app. Ad content is requested at a PG rating or lower, and the app does not tag requests as directed to children.
Google's handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy & Terms and the AdMob policies.
Your choices about ads
- Android — Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you reset or delete your advertising ID.
- iOS — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking controls whether apps may request to track you. Declining is fine; ToolMate works identically.
- If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice later.
Every tool in the app works exactly the same whether you allow personalised ads or not.
Permissions
| Permission | When it is requested | What it is used for |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Only when you open the QR or barcode scanner | Decoding a code in the live preview. No frame is saved or sent. |
| Photos | Only when you choose an image for the image tools | Reading the image so it can be resized, compressed or inspected on your device. |
| Notifications | Only if you turn them on | Timer alerts. Off by default; nothing is scheduled unless you enable it. |
| Advertising ID | Automatically, for ad serving | Selecting and measuring ads. Resettable in your device settings. |
| Vibration | Automatically | Haptic feedback on buttons. Can be switched off in Settings. |
Declining camera, photo or notification access leaves every other tool in the app working normally.
Your control over your data
- Turn off history recording at any time in Settings → Preferences.
- Clear your history or saved calculations, individually or all at once.
- Delete a profile, which permanently deletes all of its data.
- Use Delete all local data to erase every profile, calculation, favourite and preference on the device. This cannot be undone.
- Export a backup as a readable JSON file, so your data is portable rather than trapped in the app.
Data retention
Your data is kept on your device until you delete it, or until you uninstall the app — uninstalling removes the local database along with it. Because we store nothing on a server, there is no deletion request to send us and nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Data held by Google in connection with advertising is retained according to Google's own policies, linked above.
Children
ToolMate is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Ad content is requested at a PG rating or lower.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, or to object to certain processing.
In practice, ToolMate holds no personal data about you on any server, so these rights are exercised directly on your device using the controls listed above — you can view, export and permanently delete everything the app holds, without asking us. For rights relating to advertising data held by Google, use the ad controls above or contact Google directly.
If you believe your data has been mishandled, you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We would rather hear from you first at info@efox.com.np.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a new effective date, and the revised policy will ship with the corresponding app update. Material changes to what data is collected will be described in the app's release notes.
